New Mexico State won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 10.5-point spread as favorites.

Hawaii got 25 points from Zane Johnson in a losing cause and another 12 points from Vander Joaquim. Zane Johnson contributed 3 assists for them, while Vander Joaquim had 12 rebounds.

New Mexico State led at halftime, 42-29.

The rebound battle favored New Mexico State as they grabbed 43 boards, while Hawaii only had 34.
