Oakland grabbed an 86-73 win over UMKC on Saturday, behind a 21-point effort from Laval Lucas-Perry at Athletics Center.
Oakland did not, however, defeat UMKC against the spread, which closed at 14.5 at most sportsbooks.
Oakland got 18 points from Reggie Hamilton and another 17 points from Corey Petros. Reggie Hamilton contributed 6 assists, while Corey Petros cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
UMKC got a 30-point performance from Reggie Chamberlain, who was supported by 10 points from Thomas Staton. Estan Tyler had 4 assists in a losing cause for UMKC, while Fred Chatmon grabbed 7 rebounds.
Oakland led at halftime, 47-36.
Oakland had a 41-31 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
