UMKC cruised to victory on Thursday, running Western Illinois out of the gym and running up a 72-50 score at Municipal Auditorium.

UMKC won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 5-point spread as underdogs.

UMKC got 23 points from Reggie Chamberlain and another 18 points from Kirk Korver. Reggie Chamberlain contributed 4 assists, while Trinity Hall cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.

Western Illinois got 11 points from Tommie Tyler in a losing cause and another 10 points from Ceola Clark III. Ceola Clark III contributed 6 assists for them, while Terell Parks had 6 rebounds.

First-half bettors who backed UMKC were victorious, as the score was 29-24 at the break.

UMKC won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 28-22.
