The battle between Syracuse and Monmouth didnt turn out to be much of a battle at all as Monmouth was handed a 108-56 defeat on Saturday at Carrier Dome.
Brandon Triche had 18 points for Syracuse and Michael Carter-Williams chipped in with 15 points. Michael Carter-Williams had 16 assists for them, while DaJuan Coleman was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 14 boards.
Monmouth got a 10-point performance from Ed Waite, who was supported by 9 points from Gary Cox. Dion Nesmith had 2 assists in a losing cause for Monmouth, while Ed Waite grabbed 8 rebounds.
Syracuse hit the break leading 57-28 before taking care of business in the second half.
Syracuse had a 63-38 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
