The battle between UAB and Rice didnt turn out to be much of a battle at all as Rice was handed an 80-57 defeat on Saturday at Bartow Arena.
UAB won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 13.5-point spread as favorites.
UAB got 19 points from Jordan Swing and another 19 points from Preston Purifoy. Quincy Taylor contributed 4 assists, while Jordan Swing cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.
Rice got a 21-point performance from Tamir Jackson, who was supported by 10 points from Julian DeBose. Keith Washington had 3 assists in a losing cause for Rice, while Ross Wilson grabbed 5 rebounds.
First-half bettors who backed UAB were victorious, as the score was 34-25 at the break.
UAB won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 39-30.
