Cappie Pondexter poured in a game-high 28 points and hauled down three boards to lead the New York Liberty over the Indiana Fever 85-73 in Game 1 of their best-of-three Eastern conference semifinal series Thursday night.
New York covered the 3.5-point spread, while the combined 158 points sailed OVER the posted total of 146.5 set by oddsmakers.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 18 points for New York in the win. Tamika Catchings netted 18 points with seven rebounds and six assists for Indiana.
