Monarchs draw first blood
The Sacramento Monarchs defeated the Detroit Shock 95-71 Wednesday night in the opener of a best-of-five WNBA final.
Sacramento won the game as a 4-point road dog and the final score sailed OVER the posted total (137.5).
Nicole Powell shot 8-for-12 from the field in the win, scoring 21 points with three rebounds and four assists.
Cheryl Ford collected a game-high 25 points, eight rebounds and one assist, while shooting 9-for-13 overall.
