Shock top Monarchs, take title
Deanna Nolan poured in 24 points on Saturday afternoon to lead the Detroit Shock to an 80-75 win over the Sacramento Monarchs in the fifth and deciding game of the WNBA Finals.
The Shock pulled out the victory at Joe Louis Arena as 3.5-point favorites on this day, and covered the spread. The combined score went OVER the game's posted total (139).
Katie Smith added 17 points for Detroit in the victory, while Plenette Pierson was good for 16 points for the champs.
Kara Lawson scored a team-high 17 points for the Monarchs, while Kristin Haynie tossed in 13 points in the loss.
