Shock hold off Liberty; even series
The Detroit Shock held off a late surge by the New York Liberty on Sunday, winning 76-73 in Game 2 of their best-of-three first-round Eastern Conference playoff series at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Detroit failed to cover the 8.5-point spread, but the combined 149 points made it OVER the posted total of 144.5.
Deanna Nolan led the Shock with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Plenette Pierson had 11 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double in the win.
Shameka Christon and Janel McCarville each tossed in 19 points for the Liberty.
