Defence powers Stamps first victory

The Calgary Stampeders defense scored three touchdowns in the second half as the Calgary Stampeders won their first game of the season by crushing the Toronto Argonauts 44-9 Friday night at McMahon Stadium.

Calgary easily covered the 7.5-point spread, while the 54 points went UNDER the posted total of 55.5.

Henry Burris completed 23-of-32 for 348 yards and a touchdown for the Stampeders.

Kerry Joseph threw for 305 yards and was intercepted twice for the 1-2 Argos.
