Pitt starts slowly but beats Syracuse
Greg Williams 51-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the first half got the slow-starting Pittsburgh Panthers going, and they extended their best start to a season since 1982 by beating the Syracuse Orange 37-10 on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers covered the 21.5-point spread, while the final score played just UNDER the day's posted total of 49.5.
Dion Lewis ran for 110 yards and a touchdown for the freshmans sixth 100-yard game.
Greg Paulus did not have a good day throwing for 120 yards and two picks for Syracuse.
