Bearcats edge Eagles
The Cincinnati Bearcats held off a late fourth quarter comeback by the East Michigan Eagles Thursday night to start their season with a 28-26 win.
The Bearcats had been favored by 9.5-points in the game, but could not cover the spread. The combined score was just UNDER the night’s posted over/under total (55.5).
Cincinnati quarterback Dustin Grutza completed 17-of-26 passes for 173 yards with two touchdown passes, while rushing in for another score. Running back Bradley Glatthaar rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in the win.
Tim Connor ran in for a pair of touchdowns and 47 yards on 11 carries for the Eagles. Quarterback Matt Bohnet threw for 166 yards and a touchdown on 23-of-33 passing.
Cinncinatti takes on Penn State on the road next week, while East Michigan hosts Louisiana-Lafayette.
