Hurricanes sweep past Fresno State in Liberty Bowl
Quarterback Paul Smith found the endzone on a four-yard run with just a little over three minutes to go in the Liberty Bowl to lift the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 31-24 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday.
Tulsa won this game as a 7.5-point underdog, while the game’s combined 55 points fell UNDER the posted total (61.5).
Smith finished the game with 234 yards passing and a touchdown, while adding 44 yards on the ground. Tarrion Adams rushed for 103 yards and a TD on 11 carries for Tulsa, and Uril Parrish also ran for a TD. Ashlan Davis made eight catches for 128 yards and a TD in the victory.
Paul Pinegar threw for 212 yards and tossed a touchdown to Joe Fernandez, while getting picked off twice in the loss. Wendell Mathis rushed for 120 yards and a TD on 31 carries, and Bryson Sumlin had 66 yards and a touchdown on the ground for Fresno State.
