Recap - Utes Defeat New Mexico 56-14
The battle between the Utes and Lobos didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as New Mexico was handed a 56-14 defeat on Saturday at University Stadium.
The Utes were a 21.5-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 54.5.
Terrance Cain completed 20 of 23 pass attempts for 248 yards for the Utes in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Tarean Austin rushed for 38 yards for New Mexico, while Demond Dennis added 25 yards. Tarean Austin threw for 128 yards for the Lobos, while receivers Demond Dennis and Chris Hernandez had 41 and 33 yards respectively.
New Mexico was outgained by Utah 428-230 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 19-16 by the Utes.
Utah lost the time of possession battle 33:04/26:56, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Utah heads into a Week 4 battle against San Jose State. New Mexico, meanwhile, will have their next action against UNLV.
