New Mexico Falls 48-45 to BearKats - Recap
Tim Flanders scampered through the New Mexico defense for 194 yards as Sam Houston State handed the Lobos a 48-45 defeat on Saturday at University Stadium.
Sam Houston State did not, however, defeat the Lobos against the spread, which closed at 5.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 43.5.
Brian Bell completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 174 yards for the BearKats in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Tarean Austin rushed for 36 yards for New Mexico, while B.R. Holbrook added 27 yards. B.R. Holbrook threw for 289 yards for the Lobos, while receivers Deon Long and Ty Kirk had 209 and 127 yards respectively.
New Mexico was outgained by Sam Houston State 547-528 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-23 by the Lobos.
Sam Houston State led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 36:22/23:38 split in that important category.
