Buccaneers cruise past Jets
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers posted a 16-3 victory over the visiting New York Jets in NFL preseason action on Friday night.
The host Bucs entered the game as 3.5-point favorites and easily covered the spread. The combined score of 19 points was UNDER the total of 33.5.
Tampa Bay QB Bruce Gradkowski looked sharp in completing 11 of 13 passing attempts for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie WR Maurice Stovall led the Bucs with three receptions for 21 yards, including a major which capped a 13-play, 80-yard fourth-quarter drive engineered by Gradkowski. Paris Warren hauled in the other TD pass covering 11 yards from Gradkowski.
Earnest Graham rushed for 69 yards on 17 carries for Tampa Bay, while fellow RB Carey Davis racked up 67 yards on 14 carries and added a pair of receptions for 12 yards.
For the Jets, rookie QB Kellen Clemens was good on 10 of 14 passing attempts for 92 yards, while Chad Pennington completed nine of 14 attempts for 54 yards and fumbled twice. WR Laveranues Coles led all pass-catchers with five receptions for 27 yards.
The game was tied 3-3 at the break, before Tampa Bay pulled away in the second half.
