Bruins sneak past Avalanche

David Krejci scored at 17:24 of the third period to give the Boston Bruins a 5-4 win over the Colorado Avalanche in their season-opener Thursday night at the Pepsi Center.

Boston won the game as +115 underdogs, while the nine goals sailed OVER the posted over/under (5.5).

Phil Kessel, Blake Wheeler, Marc Savard and Michael Ryder also scored for the Bruins. Tim Thomas stopped 35 shots in the win.

Milan Hejduk, Wojtek Wolski, Cody McLeod and Jordan Leopold tallied for the Avalanche.
