Bruins stifle Canucks

Michael Ryder's first-period tally stood up as the winner, as the Boston Bruins nipped the Vancouver Canucks 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Boston won as +130 road underdogs as the teams played under the 5.5-goal total set by oddsmakers.

Tim Thomas turned aside 31 shots to earn the shutout for the Bruins, who got assists from Marc Savard and Marco Sturm in the upset.

Roberto Luongo stopped 29 shots for Vancouver, which slipped below the .500 mark with the defeat.
