Hurricanes edge Canadiens

Ray Whitney's power play goal in the third period was the winner, as the Carolina Hurricanes clipped the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Carolina won as +100 home underdogs as the teams played under the 5.5-goal total set by oddsmakers.

Sergei Samsonov scored the other goal for the Hurricanes, who outshot the Canadiens 48-29 in the win.

Robert Lang found the back of the net for Montreal, who led 1-0 after two periods of play.
