Canucks wrap road trip with win over Penguins
The Vancouver Canucks finished off a four-game east coast swing with a 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Mellon Arena Saturday afternoon.
Vancouver won as a +137 road underdog. The finals score played under the 5.5-goal total.
The Canucks defense limited the Penguins superstars to just 17 shots. Forward Pavol Demitra scored twice, getting his second goal on an empty net in the dying seconds. Daniel Sedin scored a goal and added an assist in the victory. Star goaltender Roberto Luongo left early in the first period with an injury.
Pittsburgh's lone goal came off the stick of Mike Zigomanis. All-Stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were held pointless and combined for just four shots on goal.
