Daniel Tjarnqvist, Ryan Smyth and Ian Laperriere scored for the Avalanche. Peter Budaj stopped 21 shots in the win.
Keith Tkachuk scored the lone goal for the Blues, and Manny Legace made 25 saves in the loss.
