Flyers flatten Capitals

The Philadelphia Flyers smashed the Washington Capitals 7-1 at the Wachovia Center Saturday afternoon.

Philadelphia won as a -128 home favorite while the final score played over the 5.5-goal total.

Scott Hartnell picked up the hat trick, scoring all three goals in the third period. Jeff Carter scored twice while Joffrey Lupul and Simon Gagne added solo goals in the win.

Washington got its lone goal from Brooks Laich. The Capitals had a five-game winning streak snapped.
