Hurricanes outlast Thrashers

Eric Staal scored a natural hat trick in the third period to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Thrashers Friday night at Philips Arena.

Carolina won the game as -135 favorites, while the nine goals sailed OVER the posted over/under (6).

Chad LaRose and Patrick Eaves added the other markers for the Hurricanes. Cam Ward stopped 27-of-31 shots in earning his 12th win.

Bryan Little potted a hat trick for the Thrashers, and Todd White added the other goal in the loss.
