Colorado needs shootout to down Detroit
The Colorado Avalanche took a 4-3 win from their old rivals, the Detroit Red Wings, in a shootout at the Pepsi Center Saturday night.
Colorado won as a +148 home underdog while the final score played over the 5.5-goal total.
Wojtek Wolski netted the shootout winner for the Avs. Colorado scored all three of its regulation goals on the power play in the first period. Ruslan Salei, Ryan Smyth and John-Michael Liles all struck with a man advantage.
Detroit scored all three of its goals in the second period, getting production from Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom, who both scored on the power play, and a even-strength goal from Johan Franzen.
