Hurricanes hang on for win over Bolts
The Carolina Hurricanes kept the Tampa Bay Lightning at bay for the third period to hold on to a 3-2 win at the St. Pete Times Forum Saturday night.
Carolina won as a -105 road underdog while the final score played under the 5.5-goal total.
The Hurricanes fought back from two goals down when Justin Williams and Chad LaRose answered in the first period. Joni Pitkanen blasted the game-winning game in the second period, leaving a tightly contested third period.
The Lightning got goals from Ryan Craig and Vaclav Prospal early in the first period but couldn't find the back of the net for the rest of the game. Goaltender Mike Smith made 25 saves in the loss.
