New York cashed as +160 home underdogs as the game played under the 6-goal total set by oddsmakers.
Frans Nielsen had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Islanders, who got two helpers from Sean Bergenheim in the payday.
Evgeni Malkin and Ryan Whitney found the back of the net for Pittsburgh, which outshot New York 37-30.
