Hurricanes nip Panthers in overtime

Ray Whitney potted the winner in overtime to lift the Carolina Hurricanes past the Florida Panthers 3-2 on Monday night.

Carolina won as -105 road underdogs as the game played under the 5.5-goal total listed by sportsbooks.

Tuomo Ruutu and Patrick Eaves scored in regulation for the Hurricanes, who got two assists from Rod Brind'Amour in the victory.

Cory Stillman had a goal and an assist for Florida, while Jay Bouwmeester also lit up the lamp for the Panthers.
