Penguins eliminate rival Flyers
The Pittsburgh Penguins battled back from a three-goal deficit to down the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 at Wachovia Center Saturday and eliminate their state rivals 4-2 in the opening round of the playoffs.
Pittsburgh won as a +105 road underdog while the final score played over the 5.5-goal total.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby netted two goals in the win while Ruslan Fedotenko, Mark Eaton and Sergei Gonchar all added to the five unanswered goals scored by Pittsburgh in the final two periods of the game.
The Flyers got early goals from Mike Knuble, Joffrey Lupul and Daniel Briere to take a 3-0 lead in the second period. However, goaltender Martin Biron collapsed under the pressure and allowed four goals on 30 shots.
