Paul Kariya scored twice in the second period and the St. Louis Blues erased a two-goal deficit to defeat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in their season-opener Friday afternoon.

St. Louis won the game as +145 underdogs, while the seven goals made it OVER the posted over/under (5.5).

Jay McClement and B.J. Crombeen scored the other goals for the Blues. Chris Mason stopped 23 shots in the win.

Jonathan Ericsson, Kirk Maltby, and Ville Leino answered for the Red Wings.
