Hughes kicks Cavaliers past Orange
Connor Hughes kicked a 19-yard field goal with no time remaining in the fourth quarter to give the No.25 Virginia Cavaliers a 27-24 victory over the Syracuse Orange on Saturday.
The Cavaliers were listed as 7.5-point favorites on the road but failed to cover the spread on this day. The combined score of 51 went OVER the posted over/under (44).
Marques Hagans completed 16-of-26 passes for 146 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions, while adding 109 yards on the ground in the win for Virginia.
Cedric Peerman and Michael Johnson each picked up a rushing touchdown in the win.
Perry Patterson threw for 171 yards and a touchdown, while also running in for two more scores in the loss for Syracuse.
