West Virginia vs Syracuse Recap - Orange Win 49-23
Syracuse got a 125-yard performance from Antwon Bailey as a key part of its 49-23 victory over the Mountaineers on Friday at Carrier Dome.
Syracuse won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 14.5-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 59.5.
Ryan Nassib completed 24 of 32 pass attempts for 229 yards for the Orange in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Dustin Garrison rushed for 58 yards for West Virginia, while Shawne Alston added 46 yards. Geno Smith threw for 338 yards for the Mountaineers, while receivers Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin had 130 and 60 yards respectively.
West Virginia lost the offensive yardage battle to Syracuse 443-408 yards in Friday's game. Syracuse had more first downs as that total ended up 23-20.
The time of possession battle favored Syracuse as their offense was on the field for 35:55, longer than the 24:05 of their opponents.
Next game, Syracuse takes its act on the road to face Louisville looking for another win. For West Virginia, they head on the road to face Rutgers.
