Florida won as a -161 home favorite while the final score played OVER the 5.5-goal total.
Nathan Horton netted the shootout winner for the Panthers while Stephen Weiss added a goal and an assist.
The Islanders got a goal and an assist from rookie John Tavares in the loss.
