Fighting Irish fall to Spartans
Jason Teague’s rushing touchdown in overtime Saturday gave the Michigan State Spartans a 44-41 upset win over the No. 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Irish had come into this game as a 6-point favorite. The combined score went well OVER the day’s posted total (56).
Spartans QB Drew Stanton went 16-of-27 for 328 yards, tossing three TD strikes, running for a score, and getting picked off once. Matt Trannon (with two) and Kellen Davis had TD catches for Michigan State, and Sir Darean Adams returned an interception for a score.
For the Irish, Brady Quinn completed 33-of-60 pass attempts for 486 yards. Quinn threw TD strikes to Jeff Samardzija (three), Darius Walker, and Maurice Stovall in the loss, and was intercepted once.
