Trojans manage to fight past Irish
The No. 1 USC Trojans got another scare on Saturday, but they managed to pick up a 34-31 win over the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Trojans fell short of covering the 13-point spread on the road in this contest. The combined score fell UNDER the high posted total (67.5).
Trojans QB Matt Leinart went 17-of-32 for 301 yards on the day, and was picked off twice. Leinart ran for a USC score, while Reggie Bush (with three) and LenDale White also picked up rushing touchdowns.
For the Irish, Brady Quinn completed 19-of-35 pass attempts for 264 yards, tossing a TD strike to Jeff Samardzija and getting intercepted once. Quinn and Travis Thomas ran for Notre Dame scores, and Tom Zbiwowski returned a punt for a touchdown.
