A Brian Smith fumble return for a touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter helped seal a 35-17 Notre Dame win over the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
The Irish pulled off the upset by covering the 1.5-point spread, while the combined score played over the posted total of 37.
Jimmy Clausen got the job done by throwing for two touchdowns despite also airing out two interceptions on the day for Notre Dame.
Sam McGuffie led the ground attack for Michigan with 132 yards rushing, while Steven Threet threw for 175 yards and one touchdown.
