Devils damn Red Wings in shootout

Patrik Elias netted the winning goal for the New Jersey Devils in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Detroit Red Wings at the Prudential Center Saturday.

New Jersey won as a -121 home favorite while the final score played OVER the 5.5-goal total.

Jamie Langenbrunner, Rob Niedermayer and Johnny Oduya scored for the Devils while goaltender Martin Brodeur made 28 saves in the win.

The Red Wings got a goal and an assist from Patrick Eaves while Kris Draper and Tomas Holmstrom netted goals in the loss.
