Hurricanes trim Penguins

Ray Whitney had a goal and an assist, including the eventual winner in the second period to lead the Carolina Hurricanes over the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Monday night.

Carolina cashed as +245 road underdogs, while the teams played UNDER the 5.5-goal total posted by oddsmakers.

Jussi Jokinen and Andrew Alberts had the other markers for the Hurricanes, who got two helpers from both Eric Staal and Joni Pitkanen in the upset.

Sidney Crosby and Mike Rupp scored for Pittsburgh, which outshot Carolina 32-21 on the night.
