Commodores upset Demon Deacons
The Vanderbilt Commodores scored a touchdown with just under two minutes left on the clock Thursday night to start the season with a 24-20 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
The Commodores were an 8-point underdog in the game. The combined score was UNDER the night’s posted over/under total (49).
Commodores’ running back Jeff Jennings rushed for a pair of touchdowns including the winning score in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jay Cutler completed 25-of-36 passes for 275 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Wake Forest quarterback Ben Mauk struggled in the loss completing only 15-of-26 passes for 196 yards, while rushing in for a touchdown.
Vanderbilt takes on Arkansas on the road next week, while Wake Forest heads to Nebraska.
