Golden Eagles fly past Marshall in OT
Darren McCaleb kicked a 34-yard field in overtime to give the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles a 27-24 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd on Tuesday night.
Southern Miss came into this game as a 6.5-point favorite on the road, but failed to cover the spread in this one. The game’s combined 51 points went OVER the posted over/under (47).
Dustin Almond finished the game with 223 yards passing, a touchdown and an interception. Larry Thomas rushed for 120 yards and a TD on 25 carries for the Golden Eagles, and Cole Mason added another score on the ground in the victory.
Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown, and Hiram Moore caught eight passes for 124 yards and a TD in the loss. Jimmy Skinner completed 11-of-16 passes for 147 yards and a TD.
