Marshall Defeats Western Carolina 52-24 - Recap
Rakeem Cato was good for 377 yards through the air on Saturday as the Thundering Herd got past the Catamounts by a score of 52-24 at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
Steward Butler rushed for 60 yards, while Kevin Grooms added 42 yards in the win. Antavious Wilson and Aaron Dobson added 98 and 81 receiving yards respectively.
Eddie Sullivan rushed for 50 yards for Western Carolina, while Michael Johnson added 30 yards. Eddie Sullivan threw for 191 yards for the Catamounts, while receivers Jacoby Mitchell and Conner Orr had 84 and 36 yards respectively.
Western Carolina was outgained by Marshall 615-335 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 37-21 by the Thundering Herd.
The time of possession battle favored Marshall as their offense was on the field for 30:21, longer than the 29:39 of their opponents.
Next game, Marshall takes its act home to face Ohio looking for another win. For Western Carolina, they head on the road to face Alabama.
