Zach Bogosian, Jim Slater, Rich Peverley, Ilya Kovalchuk and Nik Antropov, who scored on an empty net, netted goals for the Thrashers.
Jussi Jokinen scored twice for the Hurricanes while Ray Whitney added a third-period goal.
