Thomas Vanek and Jochen Hecht put up a goal and two assists apiece for the Sabres, who got three helpers from Tim Connolly in the win.
Shane Doan and Radim Vrbata scored for Phoenix, which was outshot 31-26 by Buffalo on the night.
