Miami falls short in courageous comeback
The Miami (Fl.) Hurricanes, less than a week after one of their players was murdered, put up a gallant effort, but came up just short in a 14-13 loss to No.23 Maryland at Byrd Stadium on Saturday.
The Terrapins did not cover the 3-point spread at home, and the 27 points scored were UNDER the posted total of 37.
Sam Hollenbach was efficient, going 11-for-16 for 202 yards and two touchdowns, and Darrius Heyward-Bey had five receptions for 175 yards and two majors for the Terrapins.
Kirby Freeman was 14-for-27 for 140 yards, one score, and one pick, while Ryan Moore had five catches for 50 yards and a score for the Hurricanes.
