Virginia Falls 42-17 to Blue Devils - Recap
The battle between the Blue Devils and Cavaliers didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Virginia was handed a 42-17 defeat on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium.
The Blue Devils were a 1-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 55.5.
Anthony Boone completed 18 of 31 pass attempts for 212 yards for the Blue Devils in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Perry Jones rushed for 100 yards for Virginia, while Kevin Parks added 74 yards. Phillip Sims threw for 268 yards for the Cavaliers, while receivers E.J. Scott and Dominique Terrell had 98 and 46 yards respectively.
Virginia outgained Duke 461-394 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 23-20 by the Cavaliers.
The time of possession battle favored Virginia as their offense was on the field for 31:13, longer than the 28:47 of their opponents.
Next game, Duke takes its act on the road to face Virginia Tech looking for another win. For Virginia, they head home to face Maryland.
