Bruins edge Flyers in overtime

Marc Savard returned to the Boston Bruins in style, scoring the winning goal in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Banknorth Garden in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal Saturday.

Boston won as a -157 home favorite while the final score played OVER the 5-goal total.

Savard, who missed all of the postseason with a concussion, netted the overtime winner just over six minutes into the additional period. Steve Begin and Patrice Bergeron opened scoring with goals in the first period. Miroslav Satan and David Krejci added goals in the win.

The Flyers forced the overtime period with goals from Mike Richards and Danny Briere late in the third frame. Ryan Parent and veteran defenseman Chris Pronger scored in the second period.
