Blake Powers threw for 187 yards and one touchdown as the Indiana Hoosiers started their season on a high by downing the Western Michigan Broncos 39-20 at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Indiana were 7.5-point favorites at home, and the 59 points scored were OVER the posted total of 51.

Josiah Sears carried eight times for 35 yards and one score, and James Bailey caught five balls for 50 yards for the Hoosiers.

Ryan Cubit was 17-of-23 for 163 yards and two picks, and Mark Bonds had 18 carries for 66 yards and one score for the Broncos.
