Dan Persa sliced and diced the Owls defense for 372 yards as Northwestern handed Rice a 28-6 defeat on Saturday at Ryan Field.
Northwestern won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 17-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 69.5.
Kain Colter rushed for 39 yards, while Adonis Smith added 37 yards in the win. Jeremy Ebert and Demetrius Fields added 208 and 65 receiving yards respectively.
Tyler Smith rushed for 84 yards for Rice, while Turner Petersen added 19 yards. Nick Fanuzzi threw for 92 yards for the Owls, while receivers Andre Gautreaux and Tyler Smith had 52 and 21 yards respectively.
Rice lost the offensive yardage battle to Northwestern 533-254 yards in Saturday's game. Northwestern had more first downs as that total ended up 22-13.
The time of possession battle favored Northwestern as their offense was on the field for 33:48, longer than the 26:12 of their opponents.
Northwestern heads into a Week 12 battle against Minnesota. Rice, meanwhile, will have their next action against Tulane.
