Nebraska Defeats Northwestern 29-28 - Recap
Taylor Martinez threw for 342 yards to lead the Cornhuskers over Northwestern 29-28 on Saturday in Week 8 action at Ryan Field.
The Cornhuskers earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 6.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 62.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Ameer Abdullah rushed for 101 yards, while Taylor Martinez added 65 yards in the win. Quincy Enunwa and Kenny Bell added 110 and 77 receiving yards respectively.
Venric Mark rushed for 118 yards for Northwestern, while Kain Colter added 35 yards. Trevor Siemian threw for 116 yards for the Wildcats, while receivers Rashad Lawrence and Tony Jones had 41 and 36 yards respectively.
Northwestern lost the offensive yardage battle to Nebraska 543-301 yards in Saturday's game. Nebraska had more first downs as that total ended up 26-14.
The time of possession battle favored Nebraska as their offense was on the field for 32:25, longer than the 27:35 of their opponents.
Next game, Nebraska takes its act home to face Michigan looking for another win. For Northwestern, they head home to face Iowa.
