Hockey bettors who backed the Hurricanes on the moneyline Tuesday didn’t have to sweat out a close game, as Carolina easily handled Edmonton 7-1 at RBC Center.
Carolina was favored by -165 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.5.
Joe Corvo (2), Sergei Samsonov, Erik Cole, Chad LaRose, Pat Dwyer, and Jeff Skinner each scored for the Hurricanes in the victory. Dwyer opened the scoring for Carolina, finding the back of the net at 0:26 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Brandon Sutter and Jiri Tlusty.
Cam Ward turned in a 21-save effort for the Hurricanes.
Dustin Penner scored for the Oilers, finding the net behind Cam Ward.
Devan Dubnyk stopped 31 of 34 shots for the Oilers, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Carolina went 3-for-7, while the Oilers were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
Edmonton lost the shots on goal battle to Carolina by a margin of 42-22.
Next game, Carolina takes its act home to face Philadelphia looking for another win. For Edmonton, they head on the road to face Detroit.
