Montreal Skates Past Carolina 7-2 - Recap

Carolina couldn't hang with the Canadiens on Saturday as Montreal blasted the Hurricanes 7-2 at Bell Centre.

The Canadiens were a -140 favorite in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.

Brian Gionta, Mathieu Darche, Michael Cammalleri, Tomas Plekanec, Andrei Kostitsyn, Maxim Lapierre, and Benoit Pouliot each scored for the Canadiens in the victory. Plekanec opened the scoring for Montreal, finding the back of the net at 11:18 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Travis Moen and Andrei Kostitsyn.

Carey Price stopped 28 of 30 Carolina shots in the victory.

Tom Kostopoulos and Anton Babchuk scored for the Hurricanes, finding the net behind Carey Price.

Cam Ward stopped 18 of 22 shots for the Hurricanes, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Montreal went 3-for-6, while the Hurricanes were 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

Montreal outshot Carolina 33-30 in the game.

Montreal heads into a battle against the Flyers. Carolina, meanwhile, will have their next action against Ottawa.
